Jungheinrich has again been recognised by EcoVadis for its commitment to corporate responsibility, receiving gold status for the second consecutive time. This means Jungheinrich remains one of the most responsible and sustainable of more than 55,000 certified companies.
The leading sustainability ratings platform EcoVadis has again named Jungheinrich one of the top companies in the world when it comes to sustainability. Jungheinrich is among the top two per cent of companies for sustainability in the mechanical engineering sector. “Our attitude towards sustainability is the foundation on which we create lasting value,” explained Dr Lars Brzoska, Chairman of the Jungheinrich AG Board of Management. “Jungheinrich combines social and ecological responsibility with profitable growth. Receiving gold status once more from EcoVadis for our commitment to corporate responsibility is an important validation of our work.”
EcoVadis assesses environment, labour and human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement in its certification process. Jungheinrich was able to improve in all areas compared with previous years. EcoVadis particularly recognised Jungheinrich’s commitment to environmental protection. Jungheinrich has been improving the product life cycle assessment of its trucks continually for years. The carbon footprint of an average forklift truck has been reduced by 38 per cent during this period. Jungheinrich is a pioneer in electric mobility. In 2019, 97 per cent of all units Jungheinrich produced were electric trucks, and a fast-growing percentage of those were equipped with cutting-edge lithium-ion technology. Over their lifetimes, electric trucks with lithium-ion batteries cause 52 per cent fewer carbon emissions than diesel trucks in the same lifting capacity class. “Jungheinrich will continue to expand its commitment to sustainability in the future, in order to create lasting added value for both customers and society in general. That is why sustainability will play such a central role in our 2025+ corporate strategy, which we will be presenting in November,” announced Brzoska.
